Spinal Extradural Arachnoid Cyst

A 48-year-old male presented with progressive leg weakness. Magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography myelography showed an extradural arachnoid cyst extending from the T-12 to L-2 levels in the thoracolumbar region. The cyst was confirmed at surgery and completely removed. This surgical intervention achieved improvement in the neurological symptoms.

Spinal Extradural Arachnoid Cyst

A spinal extradural arachnoid cyst (SEAC), which is mostly found at the thoracic spine, is a rare disease, accounting for approximately 1% to 3% of spinal tumors. SEAC patients are generally men in their 20’s, 30’s, or 50’s. SEACs are most commonly found in the middle or lower thoracic spine, and less frequently found in the lumbar region, although they can be detected at any lesion of the spin...

Spinal Extradural Arachnoid Cyst: A Case Report

Spinal arachnoid cyst is a rare cause of myelopathy secondary to spinal cord compression. We report a case presenting extradural arachnoid cyst of probable traumatic origin leading to irreversible neurological deficits including paraparesis and neurogenic bladder. The patient presented progressive paraparesis and voiding difficulty. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the spine revealed long se...

Idiopathic Hypertrophic Spinal Pachymeningitis with an Osteolytic Lesion

Idiopathic hypertrophic spinal pachymeningitis (IHSP) is a chronic, progressive, inflammatory disorder characterized by marked fibrosis of the spinal dura mater with unknown etiology. According to the location of the lesion, it might induce neurologic deficits by compression of spinal cord and nerve root.
